Having lived in rural Latin America for two years after college
while in the Peace Corps, I am proficient in Spanish and feel right at
home in third world environments. This helps me to capture images normally
unavailable to most photographers: i.e. released, intimate images of rural
people, in their home situations, however humble. In 1999 in Acapulco,
Mexico, President Zedillo awarded me the prestigious Lente de Plata (Silver
Lens) trophy.
After studying with with Pat O'Hara, Lisl Dennis, Nevada Weir,
Judy Dater, Michael Yamashita, Michael Kenna and Phil Borges,
I began to exhibit my travel photography in galleries and competitions
in and around Seattle, Washington. I owned and operated a photographic
gallery, Take 2, for three years. I produce well-attended travel
photo lectures, and I do travel writing for The Capitol Hill Times.
Recent Exhibitions and juried Shows include: Benham Studio Gallery,
Seattle Photographic Center, Art Wolfe's EDIE (Earth Day Invitational
Exhibition), South Seattle Community College Gallery, Seattle
Art Museum's Photographic Council Invitational, Photographic Center
Northwest, Take 2 Photographic Gallery, Seattle Central Community
College, Seattle University's Patricia Wismer Center Gallery,
Mercer Island Community Center Gallery.
Recent publications include Sunset Magazine, Microsoft's Expedia
on-line travel magazine, Epicure, GreatEscapes.com webzine, Delta Air Lines
Magazine, The Oaxaca Handbook, government brochures, travel articles in
The Capitol Hill Times, annual reports, advertising and fine art sales.
Please look for my book entitled OAXACA: The Spirit of
Mexico in May of 2002, to be published by Artisan Press,
a division of Workman Publishing Company.
When not photographing I am busy with my Latin American folk art shop and
gallery located in Seattle, Washington, called CASITA. Please visit our

special piece!
